The New Raw crafts plastic waste with robots.
The New Raw is a Rotterdam-based research and design studio, founded in 2015 by architects Panos Sakkas and Foteini Setaki, with a mission to breathe new life into discarded materials. By combining design, robotics, and craftsmanship, they transform plastic waste into sustainable, meaningful products.
Through digital craftsmanship, The New Raw has developed its own techniques that emphasize the textures and layers created by their in-house robotic manufacturing process. By exploring the potential of robotic technologies, they create beautiful, functional designs that are 100% circular, redefining waste as a valuable resource for the future of design.
The New Raw’s projects have taken part in numerous international exhibitions and venues, among others: ZKM Karlsruhe (DE), Design Museum in Moscow (RU), Caixa Forum in Barcelona (ES), Museum De Domijnen (NL), Salone Del Mobile (IT), Aikaterini Laskaridi Foundation (GR), Amsterdam Gemeente (NL), Foundation Telefonica, Madrid (ES), Onassis Cultural Center, Athens (GR), Framelab Amsterdam (NL), Gdynia Design Days (PL), Centquatre (FR).
Moreover The New Raw has been awarded with several international prizes such as Dezeen Design Award, Rossana Orlandi Plastic Prize, Fast Company Award, Kaldewei Future Design Award, Energy Globe Award Greece and Hans Sauer Award.
