Winner of the AR Emerging awards in 2018, Carla Juaçaba established her practice in Rio de Janeiro in 2000. Since then she has worked on projects at a variety of scales, from the Pavilhão Humanidade in Rio from 2012 – visited by 220,000 people – to several exceptional residential projects, such as the Casa Santa Teresa from 2017. Juaçaba was invited to participate in the Holy See Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2018, for which she created Ballast, a sculptural work of balancing steel elements.
Juaçaba currently teaches at the Mendrisio Accademia in Switzerland, and is a PhD student at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
